As verified in the documents preserved in the Mecredes-Benz Archives, the 300 SL with chassis number 198.040-5500819 was raced for the first time at the Rallye del Sestriere in Italy in 1956.
The car was driven by the team of Walter Schock and Rolph Moll, which reached the finish as the winners on 28 february 1956.
